Matthew Massengill has been a director of Western Digital since January 2000. He has served as the Chief Executive Officer at Western Digital Corporation from January 2000 to October 2005, Chairman from 2000 to 2007 and from 2015 to 2024. Mr. Massengill served as the Chief Operating Officer of Western Digital Corporation from October 1999 to January 2000, Co-Chief Operating Officer from August 1999 to October 1999. He joined Western Digital Corporation in 1985 and served in various executive capacities until January 2007.

Mr. Massengill was a Research Engineer for the Ford Aerospace and Communication Corporation. He has technical training with over 40 years of business and leadership experience in the technology industry, and service on the boards of directors of several public companies. He has been an Independent Director of VIZIO Inc, GT Advanced Technologies Inc, serving as its Chairman, Conexant Systems Inc, serving as Lead Independent Director, Microsemi Corporation, serving as Chair of the Compensation Committee. He has served as a Director of several non-profit organizations including Orange County Technology Action Network, South Coast Repertory and THINK Together.

Mr. Massengill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and has received their Outstanding Electrical Engineering Alumni and Distinguished Engineering Alumni awards.
