She Invents is an internal program open to all employees. The program was designed to increase female submission of invention disclosures within Western Digital. The program hosts events and offers resources and guides that educate employees on the patent process and promote inventorship.
When Sabra-Anne Truesdale, associate general counsel on Western Digital's Patent team, read a report showing that women make up 20 percent of the technical workforce but less than 10 percent of inventors she was driven to action. Together with her manager, she spearheaded the creation of She Invents in 2020 to address the underrepresentation of women in STEM, especially when it comes to patenting.
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) serve as a platform for employees to build relationships and connections, foster a sense of belonging, and develop ways to support our business. Our seven employee networks span 20 global chapters with groups in India, China, Israel, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
All Western Digital ERGs are open to any employee interested in joining.
